Raidho TD series - The ultimate loudspeakers
The TD series is meant to be the last speaker you buy. They are very advanced, but it's not just about technology. It's about music and about expressing this art form. When you listen to a loudspeaker in the TD series, you will experience all the emotions of the music. An authentic and holographic sound will embrace you and transport you to the place where the music was recorded.
The crossover in the TD series
The heart of any speaker is the crossover. As it is often hidden inside the speaker, it does not always deserve the light of day. But when it comes to Raidho, and especially the TD series, crossovers are small or even large works of art. Mundorf components are extensively used and the way they are assembled and assembled is breathtaking. They are hardwired, period
Cabled from point to point and manufactured entirely by hand. The cables connecting all the components are Nordost cables. Even in the crossover! This is a true testament to how far Raidho is willing to go in pursuit of the ultimate in every detail.
A revolutionary ribbon tweeter
In the TD series, Raidho looked at how they could improve the tweeter to match their new devices. By redesigning the magnets and waveguide and backplate to optimize airflow, they have been able to increase sensitivity by 3dB and reduce the already low distortion level by 35dB. This further raised the performance level, making their tweeters even better. And it was already world class!
Internal cable routing
All internal wiring in the speaker is made with high-end Nordost cable with the famous monofilament. The standard is Norse technology, but it is also possible to upgrade to TSC from the Odin series.
Individual colors
For the TD series, it is possible to order the cabinet in your personal color to make the speaker completely unique. All colors are possible as long as there is a color code for them.
The construction of the TD chassis
This is truly a unique and revolutionary chassis. 100% designed and built by Raidho himself. The goals were simple: no discoloration and excellent dynamic properties.
The motor consists of a very strong magnet (N52 neodymium) with a uniform magnetic field, combined with a titanium voice coil. This arrangement gives the powertrain the strongest suspended magnet system in the world. The advantage of this is that it is much more linear and has better dynamic characteristics. The result is a perfect impulse response with no measurable distortion.
The entire magnet system and the curve itself are shaped like a turbine to eliminate sound reflections that would otherwise obscure the original sound. The solid copper coating over the inner pole piece very effectively minimizes the inductance and linearizes the impedance. The suspension parts are as soft as possible to limit the mechanical movement of the membrane as little as possible. Finally a drive unit that really works with the Raidho ribbon tweeter to keep up and make it all sound like it's coming from one chassis.
The technicalities of the TD membrane
This is a completely unique and revolutionary membrane. Raidho has worked together with the Technical Institute of Denmark to find the ultimate material for speaker membranes. And we think they've found it!
The membrane is a 5-layer sandwich construction. On top of the aluminum and the ceramic layer, there is a so-called tantalum layer. The last layer is an artificial diamond. Each membrane has 1.5 carats of diamond, but it is only 10 microns thick. All of these materials contribute their own strengths to the mix, making these drivers completely unique.
The Ceramix membranes are manufactured in highly specialized machines, where argon gas is pumped in and particles out at the speed of light, whereby the atoms are attached to the membrane. This forms the tantalum and diamond coating. TD coatings reduce resonance by 36 dB compared to ceramics and are 50 times stiffer than a pure ceramic diaphragm. The break-up mode has been increased to 20 kHz! Raidho is the only speaker manufacturer in the world using this technology.
