Dynaudio Contour Legacy – Uncompromising floorstanding speaker with timeless design and superior sound quality
The Contour Legacy is Dynaudio's uncompromising top model and a tribute to their rich heritage in loudspeaker design. The bass/midrange units, for example, consist of modified units from the Evidence Platinum series, which, together with the acclaimed Esotar 3 treble, help to create an incredibly realistic and engaging music experience. No matter what genre you listen to, it sounds heavenly on the Contour Legacy, making it a true all-round speaker.
The carefully tuned 2.5-way construction with the advanced bass units ensures a deep and controlled bass, while the Esotar 3 tweeter adds a crystal-clear and detailed high-frequency reproduction without sharpness to the sound image. The beautiful cabinet in sustainable American walnut is hand-built with meticulous care in Denmark, which gives the speaker both an elegant aesthetic and a solid construction. It is a truly unique speaker, and with only 1000 pairs produced, the Contour Legacy is also a unique collector's item for the audiophile.

A masterpiece of craftsmanship and tradition
From the moment the components are placed on the work table in Skanderborg, each Contour Legacy loudspeaker is treated with the utmost care. The cabinet is made of carefully selected composite boards, covered with a beautiful and sustainable American walnut veneer. Martin, one of Dynaudio's most experienced craftsmen with over twenty years of experience, personally selects the wood panels in pairs to ensure a harmonious wood structure and finish. It's a process that requires a skill and an eye for detail that no machine can match.
The joints in the cabinet are cut with an accuracy down to fractions of a degree. Here, Dynaudio's "Glue Master" Claus ensures that each assembly is perfect and lasts for generations. Bonding is completed within the same day to prevent any unwanted changes due to weather conditions. This degree of precision and care not only ensures a solid construction, but also minimal resonance, which is essential for a clean sound reproduction.
The heavy cast iron base of over 8 kg gives the speaker a solid foundation, which not only improves stability, but also contributes to a more precise and controlled sound reproduction. The design eliminates the need for protruding feet or spikes, giving a clean and minimalist look.
Advanced technology hidden in classic design
Behind the timeless exterior, the Contour Legacy hides the latest sound technology, the result of decades of research and development at Dynaudio. The speaker is equipped with two custom 7" bass/midrange units derived from the acclaimed Evidence Platinum series. The units use Dynaudio's proprietary Magnesium Silicate Polymer (MSP) diaphragm, which is light and stiff, molded in one piece for optimum precision and durability.
The two base units work in a carefully tuned frequency range. One unit handles bass frequencies as low as 42 Hz and up to around 400 Hz, while the other overlaps from 400 Hz and extends up to 3400 Hz. It ensures a smooth transition between the frequencies and a more dynamic and detailed sound reproduction.
Each bass/midrange unit is fitted with a vented 75mm voice coil, driven by a hybrid magnet system consisting of both neodymium and ferrite magnets. What is unique about the combination is that it provides a stronger and more focused magnetic flux, which improves linearity, increases dynamics and provides better control over the movements of the diaphragm. The result is a bass/midrange that is both deep, precise and full of nuances.
Crystal clear Esotar 3 treble
At the top of the frequency spectrum we find the legendary Esotar 3 tweeter, known for its exceptional clarity and richness of detail. The tweeter is equipped with a 28 mm silk dome membrane and has a front plate inspired by Dynaudio's T330 from the Confidence series. Behind the membrane sits an internal diffuser called Hexis, which smoothes the frequency response by reducing unwanted resonances. The open rear chamber construction is dampened with special materials that minimize reflections and ensure a natural and undistorted reproduction of the highest frequencies.
Specially designed split filter and premium components
To ensure a harmonious integration between the bass units and the treble, Dynaudio's engineers have developed a specially designed crossover from the ground up. The crossover is hand-built by Dynaudio with carefully selected components from some of Europe's most renowned manufacturers, including Duelund, Mundorf and Van den Hul. Large air-core coils, oil-filled capacitors and high-precision resistors work together to ensure an optimal signal path with minimal loss and maximum precision.
Inside the Legacy, internal cables from Van den Hul are also used, which ensure a clean and undisturbed signal transfer between the components, helping to lift the speaker's overall performance to a new level.
Fine-tuned to perfection
The Contour Legacy is the result of extensive listening tests and precision measurements carried out in Dynaudio's state-of-the-art Jupiter measurement facility. Here, the sound engineers have spent countless hours fine-tuning the loudspeaker, not only based on technical data, but to a large extent also by listening critically to the music. Around 70% of the adjustments are made based on listening experience, which ensures that the speaker delivers a musical and engaging sound that moves the listener.
Improved sensitivity for a more dynamic sound
With a sensitivity of 90 dB, the Contour Legacy is more efficient than many of Dynaudio's previous models. This means that the speaker can be driven by a wider range of amplifiers, including those with lower power. The higher sensitivity allows the amplifier to focus on delivering the music with greater dynamics and less effort, resulting in a more vivid and detailed sound reproduction.
Designed for your space
Contour Legacy's compact dimensions of just under 1 meter in height and only 20 cm in width make it easy to integrate into different room sizes and furnishings. The double-rounded bass ports on the back are designed to control airflow and minimize turbulence, improving bass response. For optimal performance, it is recommended to give the speaker some space to the rear wall, but if space is tight, foam pads are included to dampen the bass ports and adapt the sound to the room's acoustics.
Craftsmanship you can feel and see.
It is not only the sound that is uncompromising. The physical experience of the Contour Legacy is equally impressive. When you let your hand slide over the cabinet, you feel the silky smooth surfaces and the perfect joints. The double rounded bass ports control airflow and improve bass response, while the heavy cast iron base gives the speaker a solid and stable foundation without the need for protruding feet.
Exclusivity and heritage in one speaker
With only 1000 pairs produced, the Contour Legacy is a true collector's item for audiophiles and enthusiasts. Each speaker is individually numbered, confirming its authenticity and exclusivity. It is a unique opportunity to own a piece of Dynaudio's history, where tradition meets innovation in a perfect symbiosis.
