Sumiko Pearl - MM pickup with dynamics, presence and musicality
At the top of Sumiko's entry-level you will find the Pearl pickup, which delivers an enchanting sound quality. Here you get a finer elliptical needle grinding, which is able to capture much more information. This means far more detail, greater dynamics and an even better musicality. The high notes are seductive, the midrange is determined and the bass is deep and well balanced. The stereo image is also improved compared to the Black Pearl pickup, with more detail and better channel separation. If you are looking for a serious upgrade to your MM system, then Pearl is one of those candidates that cannot be bypassed. It is one of those pickups where you get the highest performance for the price, and gives you a taste of what a pickup can do for your system's sound quality.
The recommended needle pressure is 2.0 grams, and its ½” mounting makes it compatible with the vast majority of turntables and RIAA amplifiers. The needle tab is aluminum with an elliptical needle grind, which is mounted in a pickup housing with high quality copper coils.
